Our mission & vision are singularly focused on supporting the men’s rugby program at San Jose State University. What that looks like involves funding activities that directly benefit the club through coaching, training, player support, and logistics. We have the ability to support the team in fundamental ways that directly translate to excellence on the pitch. Our beloved program can only succeed when Alumni are willing to help. There are 3 ways to give back: direct one-time or annual tax-deductible donations, donations of materials goods and services (i.e. camera for video analysis, annual hosting fees, scrum machine, etc.), or donations of your time and talent (i.e. professional services such as CPA, chiropractic, job placement, etc.)
Monetary donations allow the board finance committee to advance defined spending priorities, by working in concert with the board members and head coach. We desire to fund “next level” items, not take the place of the Club Sports budgeting process. In this way, we elevate the club’s presence by compounding the affect of budget dollars on top of fundraising dollars, to build a strong foundation of rugby excellence for San Jose State Men’s Rugby. Examples of ways to build the foundation include funding for transportation and in-state (and eventually out of state) rugby tours to expose our team to high level competition, and build the kind of confidence that can only come from participating in a rugby tour.
All monetary donations are fully tax deductible. Material donations are also tax deductible with some qualifications. Purchases of food and team merchandise are typically not tax deductible. Refer to your CPA or tax preparer for details.
Current & Future Needs:
Charter bus – $2562
Our team plays as far north as Humboldt we’ll need help covering transportation costs. We’ve been making due with multiple vans but a trip as long as SJ to Humboldt ideally warrants a bus. This allows not only more comfort for the boys, but affords coaches extra time going over last minute match information and tactics. Lastly, it allows the boys time together as a unit, sharing some laughs, and connecting.
If you’re interested in helping cover costs related to the Spartans’ transportation costs, please scan the QR code below to pay by CC, PayPal, Venmo, or Apple Pay, or contact any member of the board for details on sending a check. Any/all donations are appreciated, tax deductible, and will get your name listed on this site as a donor! Thank you!

We understand not everyone is in a financial position to give. But everyone is in a position to give of themselves – even one Saturday a month or less can make an impact. Those who are highly skilled may consider contributing to the success of our alumni foundation. We are thankful for people like. There are myriad volunteer opportunities and ways to help. For example, we need van drivers to away games (must be over 25), folks willing to grill burgers at a home game, alumni game, or other events. Please reach out to any alumni board member today to discuss volunteer opportunities!
